I called you the sun In the hopes that I would be Icarus. Legendary and famous And dead in a blaze of passion.   But you are not the sun,
I’m falling  and falling  and my back is  burning  but I’m freezing  cold  cold  and the wind is 
Icarus, A little boy, One day wished For wings to fly. Daedalus loved him, Far too much To tell him no. So, made him  Out of metal things, An airplane that gleams.  
He was always warned That riches destroy But how can such greatness Turn out so sour? It brought prizes and happiness
There once was a man named Daedalus Known as a dentist of excellence He sampled some Vicodin Now he’s imprisoned in A habit of common excrescence   A habit which started with booze
Machines clink, Chips drop, Shouts of joy sound and groans of loss as money is exchanged. The air thick with alcoholic breath. A golden haze around the highest bidder  and the biggest winner by far.

When he gazes at her it is in full view of her beauty and to spite those, who say he shouldn't, He is in love with her.  Her skin is warm. So warm that he thinks she might be able to warm his heart,
you were always one to reach for the stars   your dad gave you wings and hoped you’d be content with the sky he was afraid
they say he died of drowning because the wax of his wings melted. but that isn't true. he died from the cold. the ice gripped and clawed at his wings weighing them down

Daedalus shows him how to shave, Teaches where the razor glides smooth, shows him where his adam’s apple will grow. It’s a simple task, one better late than never
While I have always sought affection amongts the secrets of the night,  Sharing kinship with the shadows,  Relishing fromt the solitary seduction of it,   I cannot ignore the Sun.

In education, there lies miscommunication,  misinformation, and misinterpretation-- for bright-eyed students lose their naivety and become hard, cold, and cynical; like the ones that teach.
Imprisoned, trapped, confined, Prey to those who hunt us, but blessed with genius, with cunning. The wings of freedom on our backs provide our only hope; the gateway to the heavens,
  Oh Icarus,Look at your broken form;You tried so hardTo be a god,But they clipped your wingsAnd spit on your pride,Oh Icarus,Tell me,How does it feel to beMortal now?
