Life

Just like that, we are back to square one,

Having to start over, because of all of the things that were done.

The things that I went through that I never talked about before,

The things that bring back terrible memories, as I have to keep trying to close that door.

But everytime you break, you get the chance to start over with something new,

And in some ways, I owe a lot of it to you.

Thank you for not choosing me,

Because I am finally allowing myself to be who I want to be.

Thank you for not loving me the way that I deserved,

Because I am finally able to do it myself now, and I finally have enough nerve.

To move on from you and to let you go,

So I can start a new chapter in my life, and allow myself room to grow.

Thank you for showing me what I should never put up with again,

Whether it be from a family member, a lover, or a friend.

Thank you for showing me that I can do better,

And the woman I have always wanted to be, and I am finally becoming her.

Even though I was hurting, there are still things I am thankful for,

Like all of the times you were there for me when I was crying on the floor.

Thank you for all of the memories and the fun times that we had,

And I’m in a better place now where I can look back and be glad.

Because you are a good person that I am grateful that I got to know,

Even though it was hard to finally allow myself to let you go.

Thank you for being there when I needed someone to talk to,

And for the hard things that you helped me to get through.

Thank you for being so genuine and so kind,

Because people like you are not easy to find.

And even if we never talk again, I am now okay with accepting that it’ll be what it was meant to

be,

Because I no longer feel like I need to be someone else for everyone else, because I am finally

okay with being me.
