I first learned what it was like to be a woman  When I was 10 And the men who were supposed to be my mentors My teachers  My figures  My preacher
I am enough But sometimes I don’t realize that  My imperfections define who I am And often I may think that  My body isn’t perfect 
I. Today I ran a 5K This body my body ran 3 miles despite years of me feeling inadequate because of it.
Show me what you're made of, all bark and no bite The only things he said to me when I got angry or upset As if the five feet of me could not possibly be built from anything solid But I am made from fire and stone
Every pore I find god in I learn to see myself clearer 
So, you want to know about me, who I am. You want to know the girl I see when I look in the mirror, The girl who no one knows except for me. After the mask is shed at each day's closure,
That shy girl
I walk the halls, invisible. I call my friends; no one is home.  I ask my mom, "I'm busy, dear." Is there ever anybody really there?   I look at my reflection, not liking what I see...
My bones are fine china, delicate and breakable. But my will is a diamond, passionate and brilliant. My skin is worn, scarred and used. But my body is a flower, bright and alive.
I am rejoicing todayBecause even though There is famine in South SudanAnd my country is betraying its constitution Today is the day I celebrate victory on the home stretch 
Leave me at perfection, it's just over there.
In elementary school, we read a story called The BFG, or big friendly giant. It was a story about the only kind giant to exist. If you asked any of my old classmates about the story, most would probably not remember.
