GRATITUDE
Gratitude is a positive attitude towards your life an it’s blessings
Remember what you’re thankful for in mindful confessions
Awareness of the beauty of life
The rain has come again, to grace sidewalks and streets and silicone handles on blue and green umbrellas,
Oh! How the rain has come again.
Rain will bring some good we hope
After what this heat has caused
Arid burning floors and walls
Hygroscopic skin and clothes
Heated heads, building malaise
Parchéd tongues and spiculed throats
With humbled hearts, Our Father, we come to you this day,
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for blessings sent our way
*
We ask you to forgive us for thoughtless word and deed:
I would not Stop For Freedom.
But it proudly fought for me.
Through the fields of foreign lands,
And across the raging seas.
In the valley of uncharted territory.
Or the land just beneath our feet.
Dear girl,
Why are you living like tomorrow won't come?
Why are you running from what's already here?
Like you're running out of time
Monsieur, do come to life and rise to say:
Thou, maiden, art the muse in brand new day.
If powers were to bring thee back to life,
Have words to me address, and be thy wife;
Long live my Father
Who is the wisdom in life's eye
Who upon his shoulders rest
Who is never willing to die
Long live my Father
Who upon a chariot was born
The memories that we make, I hold dear to me.
They are stories, I like to believe
That I will read when I ache for normality.
They are tales of my home,
A place that is filled with heart-warming smiles
According to the Food and Drug Administration,
caffeine is a highly addictive substance
You may not see it that way because its effects
lurk in our coffee cups
freshman year of college,
i find a cockroach hiding
behind a picture on my desk.
it scuttles away
before i can reach for the roach spray.
after that, i see it every day -
i walk into my room and
Once again
My heart has beaten into a fresh puddle of dawn
The sun has licked my eyes awake
Chance sits on the other side of my front door.
Outside, the grass waits for my toes
Thanksgiving Day
I slip in and out of dreams.
I drift into darkness, lightness, and finally into the crisp glow of daylight.
From the beginning of my existence
You were there
With every obstacle and standstill
You never left my side
Even when I had no faith in myself
They say
That two is company, and three's a crowd
I don't quite feel the same.
No matter the amount, good friends are priceless,
Whether wild or tame.
My lifelines are my friends and family.
Please, Please, Please
I’m dying.
I have days, maybe weeks
I’m dying
I need to go, to need to see because
I’m dying
I need to act I need to be
I’m dying
Little Things by Dillon D.
Our selfish desires can blind us
when they become our god.
They make us forget
all of our blessings.
Be thankful of the little things.
A roof over your head,
Thank God I'm alive.
Four words that have taken too long
To escape from these lips
And still stumble out
Like a drunk driver
