Texting and driving

You’re driving down a road. One you’ve traveled like a million times before.
You hear your phone vibrate.
It's just one text, you think.
JK. u know i
didn't mean it... / i told u
he'll never say what--
Sarah did what at
the party? / ... / but why did Nate
I don't know how it happened
How you dissapeared
One minute here
The next
Gone
You hit the person in front of you
We all assumed you didn't do it
We made up stories
I may not be able to speak
Yet, I'm begging to
For I have still so much to prove
I feel as if there is nothing I can do
I'm paralyzed
The movement in me is no longer
Society screams a moaning cry
Emotional individuals die
Shootings, murders, texting, driving, death
sooner, later, nothing will be left
innocent children breathe their final breath
For just a split second your heart had stopped.
You heard the obscene collision prime;
then came the image, as your mouth dropped
with shock, you craved a bit more time.
Buckle up
Keep your eyes on the road
Dont question what i say just do as your told
Novice drivers are the leading cause of accidents
I think we just have too much confidence
Am I a liar?
Am I a murderer?
Am I responsible?
You were driving home.
You sent a text-
I love you.
I laughed and replied-
I love you more.
But was that a lie?
It was a rush of blood,
a clashing of sound
To think one glance
could throw me upside down
She didn’t even see it coming,
The car attempted to slam on its brake,
Unfortunately it was too late to start running,
Her life, the car was determined to take.
We're going steady,
Enjoying life,
Working hard, having fun.
Wishing now I had a chance to say goodbye.
If it was not for that fool,
What was he thinking,
Texting,
Driving,
Panic.
Despair.
I'm running out of air,
The ground is coming up,
I have no way to stop,
Wait!
I don't want to die,
I wanna live.
she sings the lullaby that used to make him sleepy as a baby
"i heard the truck turned too sharply and he was passing too close, it tipped over his car and..."
It was dark, the road was wetwhere are you was all it readyou check your phone like it’s no big dealnot seeing the danger in the nearby fieldthe deer runs out and your try to swerve
I'm on my w--,
was the text really worth it,
was it worth the time it took,
or even worse the life it took,
two things you'll never get back is one's life and time,
the crime at hand is man slaughter,
Her name was Elena
Chubby cheeks, a giggly girl
Hardly cried in infancy
Discovered dyslexia at age three
Her name was Elena
Determination, Pursuit
Working hard everyday
It was dark, the road was wet
where are you was all it read
you check your phone like it’s no big deal
not seeing the danger in the nearby field
the deer runs out and your try to swerve
I can't undo what is done,
my mistake caused his life,
he was so young,
who would have known
Looking down was the problem,
I didn't have to..I wanted to,
it was all a blur,
one stupid mistake I made
He left so suddenly.
With a blink of an eye.
With no warning.
And no goodbye.
You could tell he loved everyone.
With his sweet beautiful face.
And everyone loved him.
For his presence was pure grace.
