America the Great?!

This nation is closing in
The borders are suffocating
The immigrants have to leave
But, why?
Isn't this the land of the free?
These people just want to breathe.
So open the gates
Whose Broad Stripes and Bright Stars
America has made a mistake
Power to people who want to harm
Polution and Pain
Hate, Hate and Hate
Whose Broad Stripes and Bright Stars
America has made a mistake
Power to people who want to harm
Polution and Pain
Hate, Hate and Hate
The sun sets on another American day.
Discontent dots the landscape:
The land of aimless protestors and impassionate activists.
More cries for change, more cries of sorrow.

land of the debt
students who fret

till one day
you'll have sway
teacher teacher
land of the debt
cheeks always wet
Welcome to the United States of America. Home of the free because of the brave. Where brainwash is at its finest.
I remember you were conflicted, the choices in life you should've never had to make, options between Shakespeare and a gun. You chose the gun, because you never believe a choices had to be made Between receiving an education or becoming a statisti
Fast we held, now fast we fall
The eagle drops into a crawl,
And yet we still wander on.
Meandering mindlessly
Into the fog.
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." -Statue of Liberty. New York. Independence Day, 1776.
Walls, rules.
All raised to keep out a refugee, an immigrant.
Obstacles, hoops.
From the moment you came here
To establish a great nation
You came uninvited
You erased the natives of this land
And brought a people out of their own free will
You say this is the land of the free
America the great?
No this is america full of hate
I just wanna take a step back
Back before we acted like we did when wars were called great
Back when love won
For the land of the free, there sure is a lot of bondage and incarceration imbalance.
You can only go to jail if you're not a straight, conservative, wealthy, white male.
America the great?
Some say so, others say no.
While life has improved for some
Many have had their lives worsened
Less are in college
And we’re supposed to be an educated country?
Let US be brave
When speaking of America I often here the phrases that decribe unity
We are one, We are together, We are the protectors
But things are not as true as they seem.
"America the Great," we once were called
the world stared at us with hope and amazement
wondering;
waiting;
they thought we might be a change to the world
for the better
they read our documents,
My father is a patriotic man
A gun carrying, flag flying, free-spoken man
He always taught me to never let my colors run, to stand my ground, and to live loudly
I look out on a gushing Ocean,
Of foaming white waves with dark black crests,
Dilapidating the wind with it’s crushing,
Broad stripes, what our soldiers bleed.
Bright stars, what our children see.
The youth watch fiction and fantasy,
I used to think America was great,
But now, not so much.
We were never the land that we prided ourselves on for being found on the foundation of “Liberty and Justice for all”
Republican or Democrat
white or Black
Trump or Obama
Man or Woman
Gay or Straight
Christian or Muslim...
one of America's biggest failure is separation
we have grown to hate each other
This is my home, yes, people often jest.
Poking fun at our best,
We are ever changing, not always for better
That fact there is why I chose to write a letter.
To our new president or "leader" if you will
Built on the back of genocide, slaves, and rape
America was never great in the first place
She stole, she ravaged, she plundered, she killed
She forgot, she wronged, she lied
But now she is starting to heal
I was built up like
The great wall of china
I am strong, powerful, impenetrable,
Fortified heavily until nothing can hurt me.
But like the great wall of china,
I am a barrier between realms
America the Brave
America the tarnished
Amerca the ignorant
America the lost
Lost.

Fight for equality?

"Make America Great Again"
For who?
The rich, white, Christian men?
The promise that made some cheer and others fear,
for they knew their lives could be left in the hands of someone who didn't care.
Let me tell you what's happening from sea to shining sea.

Why do we sing this song?
What does it mean?
Were the slaves even free in 1916?
When Woodrow Wilson would sing
“No refuge could save the hireling and slave”
Why did they fight when they were treated this way?
