You Know

It's easy to forget, you know?

That time can pass when you aren't paying attention

And suddenly, your little sister says she likes that boy,

And your little brother is taller than you are,

And your older brother has a wife.

And your heart's too full, you know?

It's easy to miss it, you know?

That you told your grandma goodbye for the last time,

And suddenly, the house you've always loved is empty,

And you're never going to open those doors,

And it belongs to a stranger.

And it's hard to let it go, you know?

It's impossible to know, you know?

That exact moment when you realize you're not a kid,

Because you've said one too many goodbyes,

And you realize what you've lost,

And everything you've gained.

Because you're still gonna grow, you know?

You should know, that all of that's okay.

You're not responsible for who've loved and lost and found,

You don't have to count the days you forgot,

Or the memories you didn't catch,

Because it's okay, you know?
