Where are you when the children call?

Memories revive at fixed scents.

The way your hair swept in the wind.

Your hands, delicate and soft objects.

Tell me, how are you nowadays?

Where are you when the children call?

Yelling, “Mother, Mother. Hurry!”

Eager for a mother’s warm touch.

Dad execrates harsh words to kids.

Guilt swipes away their innocence.

Where are you when the children call?

Can you hear them wanting only you?

The weight of the world falls on them.

They learn to play the game of life.

Reaching their dreams and desires.

Where were you when the children called?
