THE TIME CAME

The time came

when we no longer smiled

as we once did at Table 26.

Nor as we laughed

when pouring rain pounced on our walk

so we melted a kiss against a tree.

No longer did we dance as one

as we did at Bice.

No longer did you turn in bed

to give your love.

For we came together with passion ablaze

a time ago.

And in time the passion died of thirst…

      Slowly

      Silently

      Secretly

Leaving us empty…

      Unknowingly

      Untrustingly

The time for leaving came

and the sea we knew the summer of 21 said of us:

      "they loved one Sunday…

the tide came in, and the tide went out…"

I did love you

Believe that...
