Oxygen

Vibrations in my head’s empty space; unoccupied.

Relative measurements of relative ideas.

And drops of controversy fall from the unmarked sky.

Ebony sky; full of fire’s red embers.

Chills down the spine of a sobbing child.

And hearts run, crossing a crumbling bridge leading to a forsaken sanctuary.

The enemy guards the gate and slaughters those who venture close.

Where now can we seek refuge?

Ebony sky: guard our lives in this bloody night.

To eyes and ears make us none.

And miles away, anxiety overwhelms the child in the cold.

Tears silently escape her in her frozen cries.

Oxygen is in low supply for those left alone.
