The One I Love

To see the one I love, happy, means the world to me
Even if that means I've got to set him free
I love him
But he loves someone else

Someone prettier than me
Someone smarter than me
Someone more pure than me
Someone richer than me
Someone who can love him better than me

I helped them find each other
Watching them, I now know that he was never mine to keep
I must let him go

I will never know what it's like to feel his loving embrace
He will never look at me the way he looks at her
I will never know what it feels like to have someone love me
I will never know what it feels like to have him love me

He was never mine to keep
I must let him go
My heart shatters into pieces
But to see the one I love, happy, means the world to me
