Invisible Chains

Chains

Chains

clinking metal frozen

wrists bound

reaching for freedom

no key to set me free

or strength to uncuff

I’ve been chained down long enough

frozen chains

metal clinking

imprisons me

in my mind

binds me in a cage of memories

of boundaries not yet explored

of rules, broken

of insane thoughts that ground me

yet all the while

they slice into my wrists

I bare

Chains
