It took me a long time to realize that there is only so much that you can blame others for,

And that if you want to change your life, it is up to you to be the one to close that door.

I used to always blame everyone else for the current situation that my life is at,

But I finally realized that it is time for me to take responsibility and to be done with that. 

It never occurred to me that you can only do so much with that cards that you have been dealt,

And that at one point in time, it was okay to say that that was the way that you felt.

But as time went on, I realized that just because you were put in that situation does not mean 

that you have to stay there,

And that you have to be the one to change the situation, because whether we like it or not, life 

isn’t always fair.

As much as I love them, some of the people in my life made me realize the type of person that I 

do not want to be,

And that if I want things to be better in my life, then it all comes down to me changing me.

Regardless of whether or not they are who we want to be, the people in our lives have a heavy 

influence on who we become,

And that at the end of the day, all that matters is where you are going, not where you are coming 

from.

There is only so much time that you have here, and we can’t waste it by fixating so much on the 

past,

Because everyone knows that they are not going to stay here forever, and that tough people are 

the ones who actually last.

Despite how bad you want to believe it, everyone knows that becoming the person that you 

want to be is a journey that is going to be full of flaws,

But even in the moments that are hard, you it becomes easier when you remind yourself of your 

cause.

You may need to remind yourself consistently why you are doing what you are doing when 

times get tough,

And it will always allow you to keep going when things become too rough.

Even though you want to think of the people in your life as role models, it doesn’t always turn out 

that way,

Because sometimes the people that you look up to are the ones who show what not to do, and 

tell you what not to say.

There is only so much you can do that allows you to keep going the way that you are,

And that if you don’t try to break from these molds, then they will always leave you broken and 

with a new scar.

That even though it seems impossible, you can always be the one to change your family’s story,

And that when people think of you, they won’t think of where you came from, but they think of 

how much you have grown and help you to shine in your glory. 

Your future is never set in stone for you, unless that is what you choose to believe,

But it is up to you to work hard and reach for the goals that you want to achieve.

Maybe you can be the one to reinvent your family and help them to have a better name,

Because you are a part of the generation that is going to change the game.
