Don't Get Me Wrong

Shameful spirits are surrounding me, who wants to see me fail

Yet they don’t know a single detail about me, even though they follow my trail

But don’t get me wrong, I’m not cocky; it’s just that I am not a snail

All of you, who want me to suffer, will have to see me prevail

The imaginative and creative side of me is what keeps me alive

And all of your negativity is what pushes me to strive

I see big things, big dreams, and a big personality

Ideas that conquer my brain, and they inspire me

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like school, but I want to study

I want a bright future and a strong mentality

I don't need friends to keep me happy, but I need myself

I don't need teachers to keep me company, but I need their help

I want to be able to express myself, and show what I am capable of

Maybe this is why I chose fashion in my life

Maybe this is why I chose softball, too

To be free, and be liberated from someone else's words

To listen to what I want, for once in my life

But don't get me wrong, because my decisions are the ones to make me happy
