Beautiful

Every day I live with magnificent color--

I am well lighted and appealing to the eye,

Everything about me is just right.

The veil before me hinders those to see my true features--

The beautiful scars that tell my story,

The glorious imperfections that make me extraordinary.

I am only human,

No one is perfect.

So why must you always reject,

                                                       Reject,

                                                                   And REJECT?

Filtering your true identity would be filtering out yourself completely.

There are enough imaginary beauties in this world,

So why conform to the lies that are constantly being hurled?

Be who you are,

Don’t be another glorified counterfeit art.

Only be loved for the real you--

The one with no makeup, no hairspray, or gel,

The one with a real story to tell.

Embrace the inner pulchritude found within each and every single one of you,

Don’t fall into the Hollywood trap;

Don’t believe the ten-point scale;

Don’t let anyone tell you you’ve failed.

You are beautiful with or without paint or gloss,

You shimmer and shine despite the age or time.

A first impression is worth a thousand words,

But a real image is treasured as so much more.
