Ambition the Beautiful
A dangerously beautiful display
Of wild devotion and the will to act
Has moved the souls of tiny men today
To change the world, to make a Faustian pact:
They paid for freedom, each their own, it seems,
In blood of others matching not their make.
With union of the people just a dream,
The powerful now tread upon the snake.
The rift between the “us” and “them” is clear,
And we preferred the devil that we know.
In our attempts, we’ve sown a field of fear
And killed the land in which our children grow.
America, I hate to see you leave,
But in this world which needs a bond, you cleave.
