It's Time
Please don't be angry,
Please don't be mad,
Please, I am sorry I was too drunk,
That's what he says when he's sober
And that is what makes her laugh.
He told her it won't ever happen again,
That he will change,
He told her he knows better now,
But those words are strange.
She remembers those very lines.
It wasn't the first,
Nor the second or third,
He begged her to not leave.
But this time,
She looked at her children,
And thought,
"I need to be strong for my kids.
They can't live like this anymore."
It's time.
He's right it won't happen anymore.
For she has packed her bags,
Took her kids,
Drove away,
And never looked back.
