purging

Another day, another broken promise
my beloved worst enemy comes to visit again
ridding my body of nutrients
whispering evil to my brain
People get sick, people die
but my disease is secret
You avoid food all day long…
Maybe just one slice of pizza.
As you chew, the calories accumulate at the bottom of your throat.
You’re in public...but it can’t wait.
Purging concerns and shadowed secrets,
Spilling tears and spitting hate.
Catharsis is a spinning storm
Where you release the weight.
The storm comes back again,
As night claims the horizon,
Your odor
so strong, potent, sweet, and tantalizing,
lures me in every time.
Your layers appear soft and spongy, your glaze smooth and milky.
My mouth waters,
My tongue spikes,
My lips part,
An obsession
An addiction.
It tortures me,
but I need it.
I got to know
the number on the scale.
Restrict my food.
Binge eat.
Purge.
Thoughts of laxatives.
