Why my mental illnesses inspire me

What have I learned

from my mental illnesses? I

have learned that there are people

who will dismiss your feelings. They will

try to invalidate what you feel. They will

make you feel crazy, they will make

you feel alone. They will say

that you are wrong.

                 That you don’t

                                know what you feel. You

are not depressed, just sad. You

are not anxious, just stressed. Just get

over it, you’re fine. What have I learned

from my mental illnesses? I have learned

I am not wrong, I know what I feel. I

don’t need to prove my emotions

to anyone. I am not just

                   sad, I’m not just stressed.

I am not crazy or alone,

                          I’ve learned I’m just

                      like everyone else.

                   I’m just

                         human.
