What My Teacher Didn't Tell Me

Location

In school I learned about english and bullying

Judgement, math, and the flaws of schooling.

But there are some things my teacher didn't tell me

Things that the new me is scared of knowing.

Since I've graduated I have had to learn

That life is full of surprises at every turn.

I went into the real world with a bag of emtpy tricks

Being a kid suddenly sounded like a gift.

There are some things as an adult that make you feel so alone

Paying bills, applying to colleges, and saying goodbye to your home.

These are some of the things I wish I would have known

Like how hard it would be to hear your loved ones voices only over the phone.

These are some thing that my teacher never told me

And it's a big price to pay to be an adult; to be free.
