Standing Between Time

We've stood here for centuries.
We've stood here since the first defiance
Shown through the eating of a fruit forbidden.

We've stood here for moments.
We've stood here counting the number
of casualties in battles not fought yet.

We've stood here for eons.
We've stood here bowing ourselves
Down before the menacing vastness.

We've stood here for passion.
We've stood here contemplating alternate
Realities that have always eluded us.

We've stood here entangling.
We've stood the test of time
Never wishing to disentangle our arms.
