A Spoken Word

With every word that comes out of my mouth
There is a string attached at the end
With the word "regret"

With every word that passes through my mind
It longs to be brought out

With every word that passes through my ears
Goes right through my mouth
To someone else.
Always to the wrong person

Sometimes my mouth speaks
Before my mind processes
Sometimes I choke on my words
Suffocating myself
As my mind is screaming at my mouth to stop

With every word that longs to be spoken
I'll add a new stitch to my mouth
And pull it a little tighter
So no harm can come from my words again
