Self Realization

The Creative arts,
They reach out to her
They tell her she’s not alone.
The Empty spaces,
They reach out to her
They tell her that she’d rather
Draw her loneliness away.

The School walls,
They reach out to her
They tell her welcomed, she is
The Students against school walls,
They reach out to her
They tell her to belong,
She has not what it takes.

Around the block,
The rain reaches out to her
It tells her special, she is
The bitter wind,
Accompanying rain
It reaches out to her
It says, “special?, that’s not you!”

At the end of it all,
The taunted girl
Stands and stares
Her reflection reached out
And shows her that someone cares.
For in the mirror she sees,
The girl she’s known for years.
