The Real Me

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain,

For he is not the me you're supposed to see.

Keep paying attention

To the girl I'm supposed to be.

I'll keep that man hidden,

Except when I have my privacy.

I won't wear mens' clothes,

Because I'm afraid of that kind of notoriety.

I've safely hidden my binder,

To lessen my anxiety.

Because everyone stays their born gender;

Or so says our society.

I'll keep the man hidden behind the curtain,

Just to keep everyone else happy.

I'll wear dresses

And bikinis

And pretend not to see;

That the man behind the curtain is who I'm really supposed to be.
