Rainy Day

We laugh and play in the rain

as it soaks through our clothe

each drop clinging to our skin

like the morning dew upon the grass.

We look up and smile at the ashened clouds

knowing that it is easier than crying.

We hide the pain,

we hide the tears,

we hide our fears

until the rain comes around

breaking the flood gates

and washing away

the sad dust accumulated on our frames

so we can shine again in the light of day.
