My Generation

Tue, 02/26/2019 - 20:36 -- efb2099

We grew up differently

We grew up like no one else

Our childhoods were defined by fear

They were defined by terror

We grew up knowing nothing but violence

All we know is terrorism and war

It is what we were born into

And we are fed up

We go to school

Not knowing if we’ll come home

Wondering if our school is next

If we’re next to die

The adults don’t care

They sit back and watch

And make us fight for ourselves

Making us save ourselves

They’re supporting weapons of war

While teenagers are fighting for their lives

They’re sitting back

And we’re leading the fight

My generation is changing the world

And we won’t stop

This poem is about:
My country
Our world
