Monogamy

Mon, 07/20/2015 - 03:18 -- SCS32

They are imbued in doubt

and therefore can never be certain

Their hearts long in the past

and therefore cannot embrace the present

Their fears are caged inside

and therefore will never be free

They are drowning in insecurities

and therefore cannot assemble confidence

They are desperate to fall

and therefore can never be stable

They are haunted with paranoia

and therefore can never trust

They are satisfied

and therefore cannot be happy

Settling,

forcing the mind to imagine

what the heart simply does not feel

Cautious,

ignoring notions of change

and proceeding this perfunctory life

We are satisfied

                                  aren't we my dear?
