Losing love

Please don't doubt it
I do love you
For me love is not an emotion, it's a choice
Although i can't have you and you can't have me
I never want you to leave

My heart aches gazing at your unclear face in this thick fog of confusion
Yet it simultaneously rejoices at the opportunity to have ever seen you at all
I think you're beautiful
Every scar, every fear and insecurity
But you'll never know it

Underneath all these emotions is an ongoing war
I want you to hold me but what if you let me fall?
What if you don't feel this way at all?
What if at the end you choose to leave?
Its painful to have to choose between love and duty
When duty becomes identity, love is a necessity

Like Romeo to Juliet
You are so close yet so far
Sometimes my heart scolds me
She loudly screams at me
Saying i'm making a mistake
She reminds me that if i don't let you have me
You'll be someone else's gain

I prepare my heart to deal with the pain
Of being just another memory of your past
Like a precious gift left to ruin and rust
The raging war inside my heart
Will end at last
