Life Long Hobby

Being the second born of three Mexican American children, I've been told i was born independent and always had my mind set, knowing what exactly it was that I wanted.
Knowing exactly what my "dream job" was one of the many things i knew.
I had my mind set on becoming a veterinarian since I can remember.
I can recall always choosing books that had to do with animals, never thinking as to why I preferred those books.
In fifth grade I remember out English teacher going around the class asking every student what they wanted to be. Most of my peers answered with "I want to be a doctor or a police or a nurse or an astronaut or a fireman" I was the only one who sincerely responded, knowing what I was going to study and become. I responded, "I want to be a vet."
Being independent and knowing what i wanted came with its perks. I have always worked hard, strived with every fiber of my being, and done everything I could to get to where I am today. Thankfully all that hard work has paid off.
I am a senior in high school months away from entering my dream school California State University Fresno majoring in Animal Science Pre-Veterinary. It will take me four years of undergraduate school and will be followed by four more years of a vet. school.
Money has always been an issue due to my parents not finishing high school. Also the fact that I am the second child my parents are already in debt paying off my older sister's trade school education. Another obstacle may be feeling lonely being away from home, being that I come from an extremely family oriented household. Applying and actually getting into Veterinary school is another issue I must worry about.
My family is very supportive and in the end only wants what makes me happy. They have always provided me with the supplies that i have needed no matter how difficult. Nonetheless I will definitely need them so much more during my first few months away from home regardless of how independent i have always been, my family is my strength.
Accomplishing school and finally becoming a Veterinarian will be my biggest dream come true. It will not be my job for the next forty to fifty years, nor will it be my career. Becoming a Veterinarian will be my life long hobby.
