A Letter to My Ex

Do you think about me the way I do about you?

Do you reminisce about the past we once shared?

I await the day when I can hold your hand again and smile because of our love

Do you think about me, too?

Hopes and dreams deferred because it was not our time

Our time is yet to come

Silly of me to think of you still,

Yet, my heart yearns for your love and yearns for your touch

Won’t you hold my hand again, love?

Won’t you tell me you love me again?

Won’t you be my friend?

Questions and thoughts and questions and prayers;

Rescue me from this torment, O God

I plead with God on your behalf, on our behalf

“Just once again, O God. Just once.”

Be still, my beating heart

Be still, my anxious mind

Everything will fall in its place

In due time

Won’t you hold my hand again, love?
