Lazy Breaths

You fall asleep slowly,

Letting your dreams take you in.

I don’t know what I did to deserve you,

But now you’re my everything.

I could spend my whole life

Falling in love with your eyes.

But I’d much rather be here,

Memorizing your sleepy smile.

Darling, somehow you can’t see

Just how fascinating you are.

If you want, I’ll fly you to the moon

To prove that you shine brighter than the stars.

You sigh as you snuggle deeper,

Pulling the covers up to your chin.

I wish I was your pillow,

Just so that I could breathe you in.

I don’t want to fall asleep now,

I just want to sit here in the night

Where I find comfort in your lazy breaths

And the promise that everything’s alright.

Darling, somehow you can’t see

Just how fascinating you are.

If you want, I’ll fly you to the moon

To prove that you shine brighter than the stars.

I love you more than words,

I love you deeper than the sea.

Tell me, darling, how I got so lucky

To have someone like you fall in love with me?

In life, we fall in love all the time, but there are very few and rare times when it feels like it's the realest thing in the world. With this poem, I captured a moment when I felt just like that.
