Know The Ledge

I’m just a kid

Always have been, always will be.

From the creative spirit I display

To the tests that life has to offer

I hope my endeavors will result in pay

And that my loved ones shall always prosper.

I’m just a kid

Always have been, always will be.

Because I believe that growing up is a choice

That we are born just to die, and that’s the human curse

But I believe that we are all given an individualistic voice

That is meant to enhance the universe.

I’m just a kid

Always have been, always will be.

Because growing old is the only inevitability of life

And we aren’t guaranteed anything more

No materialistic desires or a trophy wife

Because that’s not what life is at its core.

I’m just a kid

Always have been, always will be.

And through poetry, my childish mannerisms become seen

Every dream that I’ve had becomes a reality

And anger and frustration can be expressed without being mean

And no one can be hurt through a physical causality.

I’m just a kid

Always have been, always will be.

Because at the core of my heart is a love for art

One that is genuine and filled with love

A love that will carry and will always be a part

Of my life, within this one and the one above.

I’m just a kid

Always have been, always will be.

And I will always be that same kid

One who creates with his sincere touch

And if the time comes where I grow up forbid

I will always think this thought as I grip my crutch.

I’m just a kid

Always have been, always will be.
