kindness

I don't understand people.

Why we go around day after day with blindfolds on. Slapping the pavement with our shoes. Not caring who or what is around us. And God forbid anything gets in the way of wherever we are going.

But heres the facts people: Tomorrow does not exist, you will NEVER make it there. As soon as the clock strikes twelve you will be stuck in another today.

But nobody seems to know that, and people seem to make excuses based on that notion; the notion of tomorrow and what they need to do to get there.

We rationalize being annoyed when people get in our way, or make comments that distract us from our goal of reaching tomorrow. We think it's okay to be in a bad mood because tomorrow is not coming fast enough, or its not going to be good enough, or maybe everything is just getting a little old.

Soon we become bowling balls, and everything around us becomes a pin. We start acting like jerks, stop seeing the truth clearly, and we rationalize everything with the idea of tomorrow.

But heres another fact people: It doesn't matter what, NOTHING gives you the right to be mean. Ever.

And you can't fake kindness. You can be a complete B dash dash dash dash (I don't say the B word) even if you go to church. Heck all those bible thumpers are going to be so disappointed when they don't get into heaven, they are going to stand there and scratch their heads and think "But I was mean to all the right people!"

Labels don't equal kindness.

But the real kind people are quiet about their kindness. You might not even know how kind they are until you become the object of their generosity.

Then you will stand there and scratch your head and think "wow I have never heard that person say an unkind word in my life..." but you didn't even realize it until it was right in front of your nose.

Anyway, the point is don't be a jerk, or a B dash dash dash dash. Pick your head up look at the people around you and smile. You'd be surprised how much you can tell about people based on whether they smile back.
