just a whisper

I cry a lot, don't you?

I trust people too easily

I'm trusting you.

I forget things a lot, don't you?

I lie to people too easily

I'm not lying to you.

They say "no means no", but what if "no" was a thought.

What if the "no" was too quiet

As quiet as screaming is loud

What if his "yes" was too loud

As loud as innocence is quiet

I'm not the girl who got raped

I'm not the girl who trusted too easily

I'm the girl who lies, the girl who forgets, the girl who blocks it out

The girl who thinks "no" but never says it

The girl who fakes it and makes it and fakes it again

Whispering the word "rape" now is almost as impossible as whispering the word "no" then
