Which is really you,
the person behind the curtain,
or the person your
best friend
boyfriend
parent
ecclesiastical leader
God
sees? Which is really you, the person you think you are or the one you think you ought to be?
Isn't your body a
reflection
a reflection of your soul?
(Is it?)
(Or is the true beauty
truly
<on the inside.>
?)
Because truthfully there's three people in your head
the person you ARE
the person you THINK YOU ARE
the person EVERYONE ELSE THINKS YOU ARE.
one, two, three.
the real you, the physical, mental, spiritual, social, quantifiable person in that noggin
isn't affected by perception (yours or your boyfriend's)
it isn't affected by how much your clothes cost
or how much makeup you wear
or how long your hair is
or whether the aforementioned boyfriend is real or made up in a foolhardy attempt to make that cutie in physics jealous
the real you isn't just behind the curtain, it's behind your perception, it's behind the social mirror that tells you to become the person outside the curtain.
(your real self
would
never
tell you to do that.)
which is really you
the person you see
the person your mom sees
or the one who is actually reading this
recognizing this
struggling to recognize itself.
you're in there.
don't
just find the person behind the curtain
(find the person behind perception.)
