The girl with the glasses

The girl with the glasses,
walks home alone.
No one to talk to.
No one to know.

The girl with the glasses,
sits at lunch by herself.
No one to eat with.
No one to be with.

The girl with the glasses,
starts her first day of high school.
No one to share it with.
No one to care.

The girl with the glasses,
gets contacts.
No one to notice her.
No one to see her.

The girl with the contacts,
dyes her hair.
She thinks to herself,
maybe someone will care.

The girl with the contacts,
starts to feel fat.
She decides to stop eating,
just like that.

The girl with the contacts,
starts to feel pretty.
People start to talk to her.
People start to like her.

The girl with the contacts,
starts to be like everyone else.
She starts to drink to be "cool."
She starts to smoke to be "cool."

The girl with the contacts,
starts to feel empty.
She starts to hate herself.
She starts to cut herself.

The girl with the contacts,
starts to feel better.
She starts to get bad,
then she got worse.

The girl with the contacts,
didn't make it to graduation.
She didn't get to leave this town.
She didn't get to turn her life around.

The girl with the contacts,
tried to be loved.
She tried to be herself.
She knew it didn't work out.

The girl with the contacts,
died like everyone else.
She died trying to be "perfect."
She died trying to be "worth it."

The girl with the glasses,
Who walked home alone,
Who ate lunch by herself,
Who started high school,
Died long before the girl with the contacts,
She died alone.
But at least she died herself.
-society killed the girl with the glasses-
