Drive (For my brother)

Location

Screams and swears

Errupt from downstairs.

Two tiny brown heads have heard;

They hang on every word.

The shatter of glass,

The slam of a door.

He hits his gas

"I think Daddy is driving away.. for sure"

The years pass,

Sweet family turns to ash.

With their hands held tight,

The two stumble through the night.

Deep relief fills town eyes,

Worry for the two dies.

Firm smiles on their faces,

Try and match their quick paces.

But close friends are far,

Deep conversations ajar.

There is nothing to see or do,

They are just waiting

for the rest to drive away too.
