A Difficult Reminder
Locations
Never forget what being happy feels like
Because it's so much easier to indulge into apathy
When it consumes in a feeling that your breath is being pulled
slowly
and ungently from a single point on your lungs
and out through your breast;
In turn we will follow that breath to keep breathing,
and give up on speaking and yelling,
then loving then reaching,
then hope.
We forget how good these things feel.
Because trying not to isn't seen as a remedy, but a séance
Yet a reminder in a lover's indiscreet mark on your being,
the release from a long struggled
achievement,
benevolence of a mother's embrace where
your skin has turned dry,
will flood you;
In a rapid cascade with
structure-less and intangible moments
erupting into the gentle content of being okay.
It will overflow you and drown you so that we don't
need
to breathe anymore
And you can follow your heart
instead of your pain
Never forget what being happy feels like
Because it's so much easier to indulge into apathy
But only the wisest choose to be
happy instead
