Deafening Silence

Little girl staring at the blackboard.

Font of the class is no place for girls like her.

The silence at recess tells her she is forgotten.

The noiselessness carrying across the pint-sized kingdom.

He comes then, new and naive.

He does not know the rules.

In the back of the classroom, he sits by her side.

Challenging the silence that suffocates her.
