Covering Up

Look beyond my tattoo of a smile
Can't you see the dry tears of despair on my face?
I've tried so hard to cover up.

Memories marked inside me like the scars on my arms.
I wear a sweater even on the hottest of days-
I've tried so hard to cover up

Layer after layer applied all over my body each morning
He marks his so called territory and shows his power over me.
I've tried so hard to cover up.

The words of hate ringning in my ears, slowly deteriorating me
I put my music on blast but they come back even louder.
I've tried so hard to cover up.

I have prayed to You, my Lord, since day one, pleading you to make it stop
Have you forgotten me? Am I just as worthless as they say I am?
Ive tried so hard to cover up.

There's not  a second that goes by...
Should I do His Job amd just leave this God forsaken world?
I'm so tired of covering up.
