At the Core

The ship sat anchored to the shore

The captain, skipper, and crew working at her core

Sails being raised and decks being scrubbed

Until the wood shined from being rubbed

The anchor was raised and the alarm sound

Leaving the captain, skipper, and crew to wonder if it would ever be found

The ship knew just what to do

Even when the violent wind blew

She knew to take cover all on her own

For the captain had taught her that long ago so she would never be thrown

Every storm and sunny day

Had helped her learn what to do when times where grey

So now she sailed off into the unknown

To learn more lessons, this time on her own.
