A Contradicting Distraction

Back and forth

In and out

Running away

Coming back.

Here and there

Nowhere to be found

I say “I’ll just forget”

I say “I’m a clown”.

Dancing and turning

Lying in bed

Looking through my window

Why aren’t you there?

I think I screwed up by leaving

I think you’re just not the one.

I forget about you in the morning

And I remember every night.

Nightmares and dreams

Empty shell, shame on me

Full of ghosts, shame on you

The key point: the point of view.

And I skip through these verses

So I don’t have to think

About how I might not belong with you

And you might not belong with me.
