Balloon Man

I will hold you.

For the sake of the rivers I swam to love you,

I will hold you.

I will hold you,

I know; forever.

As that is the way of loving someone.

I will hold you, yes.

But not as I hold my books;

in front of me, turning page after page.

No, I will hold you.

With your string tied to my wrist

as you float above-

a balloon to a little girl.

A simple look up and I will see you and I will smile.

But you do not require my picking up

or setting down.

You are suspended.

There.

And you will stay.

There.
