Back In The Day

Sometimes I miss being a little kid
When the problem was which crayon to choose
Or finding a marker without a lid.
The biggest mistake’s result was a bruise,
And boys just carried a bunch of cooties.
When mommy and daddy were your best friends,
Girls didn’t worry about their booties,
And only Barbies cared to follow trends.
There were hurt knees instead of broken hearts
And wishes were made on dandelions.
When the big kids always gave you head starts
And you weren’t seen as weak for cryin.
Everyone was sweet and innocent.
Each and ev’ry moment was time well spent.
