Anchor in the Storm

Change

It enveloped me in its deep stronghold

Waves crashed over me

As rain hurled down its fists

College-the magnitude

Wave to wave- thought to thought

Loss of a friend- in the embrace of angels

Longing for beauty found long ago

Rogue wave to rogue wave- memory to memory

But a sailboat appeared in the distance

Wisdom

I drove myself against the salty torrent

Reaching the ship- needing to know

I grip the sides and fall into the boat

The storm whirls about, whitewater drowns the stars

In the midst of the storm, I perceive

I am not alone, navigating through life's perils and triumphs

With a tight grasp on the mast, I am protected

Tenacity

Looking heavenward, my North Star is guiding my life

Jesus, Lord in the tempest and the calm

I have this Hope as an anchor for my soul
