Alive

She shivered with anticipation
As she impatiently stood alert
Expecting the piercing sound of the gun.
But, no matter how soon she thought it was going to go off,
She was always surprised
When it caught her off guard.
Acting in a split second,
She exploded out of the heavy blocks
Lightweight purple baton in hand,
This was what she lived for.
