After Their March

Thu, 03/07/2019 - 13:48 -- M.S.C.

My brothers marched as one today

They never saw it coming

And I have never seen such pain

Or so many people running

With dead set eyes and shaking hands,

they took down what they could... but as my brothers

fell one by one

they were told 'for the greater good'

The lie rang loudly in their ears

as the world fell around them

As large pieces ripped from their souls

they became other people's problem...

Abandoned in their time of need

They lost all sense of hope

The hole was just too much to bear

so they found other ways to cope

Their legend tainted in the books

bravery soon a doubt

When everyone ignores the looks

from the lost, the broken, the forgotten about...
