Coleceanth

Coleceanth

Have you seen the rain at night

Lumined down by city light?

It pounds upon the asphalt here

Makes fountains clear as crystal tear.

This is the only time it seems

A portal opens to my dreams

Of peoples distant, faint and listening,

The twisting, glistening Coleceanth.

The spires burn bright as drops fall in

And splash into the water’s thin

Weak barrier of light and dark

Which is the mark of a new part.

Can you see the shapes in there?

Writhing, skiving, fine and fair,

They are the peoples, faint and listening,

The twisting, glistening Coleceanth.

And if you jumped, (I have before,)

Into that place, a place of lore,

You would become one of them too,

And that choice you would soon deem true.

For those fair creatures, clad in foam,

Are free to go and free to roam,

They are the peoples, faint and listening,

The twisting, glistening Coleceanth.

They fight the darkness back unto

The blackness whence it came to you

And make upon the asphalt here

The fountains clear as crystal tear.

So if you ever see the light

Created by the rain at night

Do not forget them, faint and listening,

The twisting, glistening Coleceanth.
