Headspace
Look up kid, the stars are still in place, the moon hasn’t left,
there’s no pressure there. So stay, watch the sky. Just, stay.
Don’t hide, the leaves are changing and the field is dead,
everything’s opening up. Make sure to show them, make them see.
Put the razor down, it’s not going to do any good; it’s lying to you,
the ache won’t go away, not like this. Please, please, don’t start this.
Give it up, open that window and throw out that blade. Bury it in the deepest
hole you can manage, forget it’s there, just get out while you still can.
Ask for help, kid, when you’re in too deep, when the stars have shifted
and the moon seems invisible, ask. The leaves will grow back, please, ask for help.
Open the door, there’s crimson in the sky and the ache clenches, but reach
Up, turn the lock, let them hear you. I’m begging you, open the door.
Don’t dwell on it, the white band with your name breaks and leaves a mark
on your wrist. Leave it be, hide it, forget that it’s there.
Take control. Open your eyes. Put the stars back yourself.
Roll your sleeves up. Fill in those holes, and please, please, get better.
