Sit down; let's play a game.
Sleep sound; the monster's been tamed.
Still loud; the voices scream:
"Let me out; you know you're just a fiend."
"Slow down; I don't wanna play.
Affix a smile and they’ll think that you’re okay. Maybe she won’t flip out, go crazy on you today. And should you express a feeling- then you forgot your meds. Go on and take your pills. Cure what ails your head.
a quiet afternoon,
a mug of coffee encased in both hands.
i stare into the circle of beige,
at the steam coming out of the brim,
and i watch my anxieties evaporate.
a blue turntable,
It’s so hazy in my head.
I don’t even care about my daily bread.
With you in my arm I am ahead.
As long as I get my hit,
I don’t care if for a year I don’t eat.
It erases my problems in a second.
Paper's there to listen when the earth has tuned me out,
Poetry's the pillow that takes my angry shout,
And writing is the friend that never fails to say, "Hello."
It doesn't need to rhyme and it doesn't need to flow--
